Sajjangarh Palace

Perched high above the city stands Sajjangarh Palace, better known as the Monsoon Palace. Built by Maharana Sajjan Singh in the nineteenth century, the structure was intended to serve as a monsoon retreat and observatory overlooking the surrounding countryside.

The journey to the palace winds through the forested slopes of the Sajjangarh Wildlife Sanctuary, gradually revealing increasingly spectacular views of the landscape below. Upon reaching the summit, Udaipur’s lakes, palaces, and distant villages stretch across the horizon in every direction. The palace is particularly famous for its sunsets. As daylight fades, the lakes begin to shimmer and the Aravalli Hills take on shades of gold, orange, and violet. Watching the sun slowly disappear beyond the horizon from this elevated vantage point remains one of the most unforgettable experiences in Udaipur.
