Jal Mahal
Jal Mahal is situated on the Man Sagar Lake at the heart of nature, built in 18th century by Sawai Jai Singh II and reconditioned later by Sawai Madho Singh I. It has a subtle Rajput–Mughal style that retains symmetry and proportion.
When the lake is full, four stories of its five-story building are submerged, with only the top level visible. The Jal Mahal was never meant to be a residence for royalty, but rather served as a place for recreation and hunting. Entry’s barred for public today, but the palace is a major visual landmark and continues to be involved in Jaipur’s green and heritage preservation conversations.
