Bilasgarh Temple
Almost an hour drive from Jhalawar, Bilasgarh Temple provides another nuanced aspect to the region’s history. This place is famous for its rich history, stone engravings and peaceful ambiance. This 11th century temple is known to have been a Vishnu temple. Even now, we could see that traces of what existed all those years ago. Idols, engraved stones, and architectural panels still hold the vision.
Our visit there reminded that so much of its history was lost over the centuries. Foreign invasions and ‘time’ stripped it away, but so much is also kept alive through the stories that were passed down for over hundreds of generations.
