Nurla

Nurla

The village of Nurla is another peaceful stop within Sham Valley. Surrounded by orchards, cultivated fields, and the flowing Indus River, Nurla offers a refreshing contrast to the stark mountain landscapes. The village is especially known for its apricot orchards, which bloom beautifully during spring and produce fruit during summer. Many travellers choose Nurla for overnight stays in eco-lodges and homestays, appreciating its slower pace and scenic surroundings.

The shaded surroundings, cool breeze, and peaceful setting made it an ideal place to relax before continuing our exploration of the valley. As with many villages in Sham Valley, the landscape here is defined by fertile fields fed by ancient irrigation channels, a reminder of how closely life in Ladakh depends on the Indus River.
