One of the strangest dining experiences in Ahmedabad is at Lucky Restaurant, not far from Lal Darwaza. Erected atop a former cemetery, it is renowned for its unorthodox seating amidst 26 old graves! Despite its eerie setting, people line up to “dine with the dead”.
As we sat down to experience its mystery, we noticed an interesting painting that adorned the restaurant’s wall. A bold, bright abstract of camels in a desert landscape painted and gifted by the legendary MF Hussain, bearing an Urdu inscription that roughly translates as “There is no God but God.”.
