Another important royal residence in Bhuj is Sharad Bagh Palace. Built in the nineteenth century, the palace later became associated with Maharao Madansinghji.
Unlike the ceremonial buildings within the Darbargadh complex, Sharad Bagh Palace functioned as a more private residence for the royal family. The palace was surrounded by gardens that provided a peaceful retreat from the administrative centre of the city.
Today the palace houses a museum displaying objects related to the royal household. These include royal carriages, ceremonial clothing, personal belongings of the rulers and photographs documenting the life of the princely court during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
These collections offer valuable insight into the daily life of the Kutch royal family during the final decades of princely rule.
