The Muli War Memorial preserves the memory of a local conflict often associated with the story known as the “Partridge War.” According to local tradition, the rulers of Muli protected an injured partridge bird, which eventually led to a battle. Several local warriors lost their lives defending the values and customs of the region.
The memorial contains paliya stones dedicated to those who died in the conflict. The site carries both historical and emotional significance for local communities.
Although the story may appear unusual today, it reflects the importance once attached to honour, loyalty, and protection. The memorial also shows how regional history often survives through oral tradition and local memory rather than formal written records.
